    • Increase the role of the libary and an awareness of what it offers

  • 9. Indications are that libraries’ websites or portals are well thought of by researchers across the board
    • Must be a Department project
    • Bottom up work needs to be sustained and supported
    • Otherwise project dies and may need forcing from the top
    • Must be seen to make a differece
  • 10. Need to communicate with all the stakeholders
    • Create a community and be inclusive
    • Who are they ?
    • - Faculty, high priority stakeholder
    • - Students – graudates, undergraduates
    • - Non academic staff, technical and admin
    • - Other interested parties
  • 11. Establish their requirements
    • All with different needs to be addressed
    • They shape the product
    • Balance between what is common and what is different
    • Structured and non ad hoc (non who shouts loudest)
    • Go out to them – surveys, workshop, RSS, Blog….. and more. M ost researchers lack any clear understanding of what the library is doing on their behalf.

    • Envision a situation where our webpage is a model for the Faculty/University
    • Take on board the Challenges
    • - custodian of collections, subject-specialist, teacher of information management skills
    • - negotiate the purchase and facilitate the delivery and access to information
    • - web learning, VLE’s, VRC’s
    • - web publishing, manage ir’s of digital information
    • - copyright issues
