  • 1. Consideration for diversity in the Torre Almenara secondary school
  • 2. What is consideration for diversity? different needs, interests and capacities of the students in the same classroom It is giving appropriate attention to the IES TORRE ALMENARA
  • 3. A student has special educational needs when he/she presents greater difficulties than the rest of the students when it comes to learning the curriculum which corresponds to his/her age. Handling the diversity in the school Educational reinforcement The strategy used in a specific and sporadic way to aid students in the learning process Curriculum adaptations It is a process of simplifying the content of the curriculum Curriculum diversification It is an extreme adaptation of the curriculum to include basic concepts for students with a variety of learning difficulties. This is developed during the third and the fourth year and is designed to assist students in graduating IES TORRE ALMENARA

Handling the diversity in the school Programs for the work force They are provided to those students who turned 16 years old and have no possibility of graduating Spanish language classes Designed for students transferring to the school systems from non-Spanish speaking countries. Spanish instruction is given Elective subjects These are used as a reinforcement mechanism which correspond to basic subjects and are helpful to those students with learning differences IES TORRE ALMENARA

Human resources In order to carry out the different programs and for students with special needs, we have the following professionals: Educational support Guidance counselor Spanish teachers Curriculum director External educational services Social services from the City Council IES TORRE ALMENARA
