Chronic Gastritis  A condition which will cause the stomach lining to be inflamed. The amount of acid, mucus and enzymes production is reduced, which eventually slow down digestion of the stomach. Frequent abdominal pains will be experienced when alcohol and spicy food are being consumed. This condition is commonly seen in both men and women. 2

  5. 5. 5-Steps Special Diet  A special diet helps to control the symptoms and prevents further irritation of the stomach lining. Has to be followed thoroughly for the next three months for effective results. 5

Step 1: Size of meal  Most people do not have breakfast and have huge meals for dinner. The amount of food nearing bed time is supposed to be lesser than the day because 5 hours is needed for digestion. You are advised to eat 5-6 small meals each day to give your stomach time to digest the food. 6
  7. 7. Step 2: Food to avoid   Avoid fried, highly seasoned, spicy and processed food.  Cut down on high-fat diet  If you have the cravings, try to eat these food only once a week.  Drink alkalized water and non-citrus food to wash the fried and oily food. 7

Step 3: Food to eat  Have food that is gentle on the stomach. Brown rice, pasta potatoes and yoghurt active culture acidophilus. Choose food that is made from whole grains instead of refined flour to aid in digestion. Drinking water 30 minutes before and after meals can increase absorption and digestion. 8
  9. 9. Step 4: Increase mineral count  Take supplements for Iron and Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is essential for red blood cells production. Iron absorption is disrupted due to inflammation and mucus from gastritis Take oral supplements or food that is rich in these minerals. 9
  10. 10. Step 5: Drink alkalized water  At least 2 liters of water is needed daily to neutralize the excessive acidity in the stomach. 10
