Hanover-Horton High SchoolMr. Donavon Hornbeck10000 Moscow Rd., Horton, MI 49246(517)563-0101 ext. 423donavon.hornbeck@hanoverhorton.orgNovember 26, 2012Dear Parent or Guardian:I would like to take this opportunity to say that I am excited to be your child’s Algebra 2 teacherthis year. This letter serves as my chance for me to notify you of some information concerningmy class.Algebra 2 is a challenging class for many; however, I truly believe that all students can besuccessful. If your child is struggling to understand the concepts, encourage them to seek outadditional help. First, I am almost always available after school to help. Secondly, there aremany websites (particularly Youtube) filled with online Algebra help. One of the best resources Ihave found is your student will need for class:Pencil or penA scientific calculator (preferably a graphing calculator, TI-83 or TI-84)An open mind, and a willingness to say “I don’t understand.”Homework:Your student can expect to have homework for my class on most days class is held. Some timewill be given in class to work on most assignments, but you can expect your child to have someAlgebra 2 homework to do on most nights. Grading will be done on a straight point system, andwill include homework, quizzes, tests, and a couple of projects/papers.Progress Reports:Hanover-Horton will continue to use the PowerSchool grading system this school year, whichallows you to check your student’s grades online at any time. If for some reason you do not haveaccess to PowerSchool, please let me know, and I will be more than willing to update you on yourstudent’s progress through whatever means is easiest for you.If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me or e-mail me.Donavon Hornbeck_____________________________ ______________________________Student Name Parent/Guardian Signature
