Number of Youth Journalism and News Literacy Programs Serving Chicago Schools 23 youth journalism and news literacy organizations were surveyed about their work with Chicago youth in 2010. 1 2 Collectively, these organizations: Directly reached 6,874 young people in Chicago through youth journalism and news literacy programming. 3 Trained more than 153 teachers in journalism and news literacy curriculum. Are in 27 schools where more than one youth journalism or 4 5 news literacy program is active.
