  1. 1. Edgewood Hospital DiversionEdgewood Hospital Diversion provides short-term intensive mental health services to youth and theirfamilies to stabilize acute psychiatric symptoms and crises.Located at the Edgewood facility in San Francisco, the Hospital Diversion program serves youth rangingin age from 6 to 17, 24 hours per day/7 days per week in an unlocked, voluntary setting licensed by theState of California Department of Social Services. Because of our level of service intensity, many of thecrises that are evaluated can be resolved effectively in a less intensive level of care program than that pro-vided by a locked acute inpatient hospital. Length of stay may vary from 1-14 days. The program followsa multi-disciplinary approach and features: • Intensive diagnostic and functional assessments • Individual and group therapy • Parenting support and family therapy • Psychiatric and nursing • Case Management, linkage and discharge services • Active therapeutic milieu • Educational, art and recreation programming • Summary and recommendation reportYouth served by the program often have a history of failed intensive outpatient treatment episodes and/or failed therapeutic placements. They may exhibit a great range and multiplicity of problem behaviorsthreatening their health and safety. Intensive assessment leads toward the development of an individual-ized treatment plan, safety plan and discharge plan. For more information on Edgewood Hospital Diversion, please contact Jill Anderson at 415-682-3172.EDGEWOOD CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES1801 Vicente Street, San Francisco, CA 94116 415.681.3211 edgewood.org
