8. 8. Importance of parents in a child's educationIn this day and age of double income parents and mushrooming tuition centres, it is rare to find parents who believe in giving their child that personal attention at the cost of their careers. Here is a case of a mother who gave up her career when she realized that her son was very talented and needed that extra push to take him to greater heights.
9. 9. 14-year old SahalKaushik became the youngest ever to crack the IIT-JEE test. He not only topped in Delhi but, also secured an all-India rank of 33. Surprisingly, he did not attend school till the age of 10 years and was home tutored by his mother. His mother, RuchiKaushik gave up her medical practice 12 years ago for mentoring him.
10. 10. This incident shows the importance of parents in a child's education. It is not necessary or, even practical for every parent to quit his/her job to teach a child but, all cannot and should not be left to their teachers or, private tutors. Nothing can replace a parent's personal attention to details. After all, if a parent is not serious about their very own child's career then how can a third person be?
11. 11. StandardsStandards are expectations clearly defined in measurable terms. Academic standards clearly state what students need to know and be able to do to succeed in school, in the workplace and in life.
12. 12. AssessmentsAssessments are result-oriented measurements of student, school and system performance. A successful system aligns its standards and assessments.
13. 13. Learning readinessLearning readiness recognizes the importance of helping make sure that children are able learn before they come to school.
14. 14. AccountabilityAccountability is the system of consequences for policymakers, educators, and students based on demonstrated performance. It should encompass the curriculum, instruction and time necessary for students to be successful, and it should focus on helping struggling schools and students.
15. 15. TechnologyTechnology is a tool that should be used to improve learning and productivity, broaden access to knowledge and help teachers, parents and students maximize the opportunities for students to achieve their goals.
16. 16. Professional developmentTeachers and administrators need meaningful preparation and continuing education focused on content knowledge, improved teaching skills and school management.
17. 17. School autonomySchool autonomy gives individual schools the responsibility to make the decisions needed to achieve high performance and accountability.
18. 18. Excellence through YOUR self
Be a Maximizer
Team Leadership
Priorities in Life
Instructions towards perfection
Perform or Perish
