The Government Affairs & Communications Division works toensure that the Department of General Services maintains proactively effective communicationsinternally and externally.Interns work on a variety of tasks in the Government Affairs & Communications Division for DGS.Interns are involved in supporting the work of the staff with development needs; includinggenerating reports, identifying leads and helping to respond to requests for proposals. Interns arealso involved in supporting the logistical and administrative functions. All interns work to support thedaily activities necessary to run the DGS Government Affairs and Communications Division.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:COMMUNICATIONS AND OUTREACH• Assist with development of e-newsletter and media releases as well as Web site and SocialMedia page content.• Assist with Media Relations.• Learn to create, execute and assess outreach campaigns and establish transparentgovernment communications.DEVELOPMENT• Help prepare reports for internal and external meetings, identify potential opportunities andhelp chasematerials/information in response to requests.• Maintain electronic archives of development correspondence and activities.
