  3. 3. About Me  Millersville University  Elementary Education  Student taught in 5th grade  LTS in 6th grade  Sports  Eagles and Phillies

  5. 5. EVERYDAY MATHEMATICS First subject of the day is Math. 8:40-9:35  Everyday Mathematics  Spiraling Curriculum  Topics are introduced and revisited constantly through the year.  Unit 1- Number Theory
  6. 6. SPECIALS  Monday- Art  Tuesday- Health  Wednesday- Music  Thursday- Library  Friday- P.E.  Monday, Wednesday-Friday-Spanish  Friday- Science Lab

FOCUS  FOCUS (For Our Children’s Unique Skills)  30 minute period where students who need to leave the room for speech, AIS, instruments, etc.  Students who remain in the class will be catching up or finishing work, meeting in small groups with me, reading, or independently practicing skills.  10:40-11:05

  10. 10. Reading Mini lessons  How to use Classroom Library  Choosing “Just Right Books”  Intense or “Wide Awake Reading”
  11. 11. Writing Mini lessons  What is a writers Notebook  Unforgettable Story  “Me as a Reader”
  12. 12. Independent Practice  Students go off and work on the skill just taught on their own  Teacher is conferring with students or groups and circulating the room giving assistance or advice
  13. 13. WORK SHARE  Students will briefly come together and share what they worked did during their independent practice.  Students are expected to listen and give feedback  Learning from each other
  14. 14. Words Their Way  Word Study  New to district  Starting in October

  16. 16. DISCIPLINE  Responsive Classroom- 5th Grade Style  Credits and Debits- Individual  Students made these in class  “TOGETHER”  At Specials  Timeouts  Consequences- Reasonable ex. “break it…buy it”
  17. 17. Homework  Reading- 20 minutes every night  Math- Study Links. Can keep them at Home  Words Their Way  Rarely will give out homework on the weekends  Agenda needs to be signed every night.
