  5. 6. <ul><li>Recycling  is a widely-used and a commonly known term of the modern throwaway society, where many perfectly good materials end up sitting in a landfill while new materials are constantly created and used in their place. </li></ul><ul><li>It is actually the processing of the used materials (waste) into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, to reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, to reduce energy usage, to reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from land filling) by reducing the need for &quot;conventional&quot; waste disposal. </li></ul><ul><li>Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle&quot; Waste Hierarchy. </li></ul>

Aims <ul><li>To enable students to build up a greater understanding of where and how they can contribute to changes in environmental issues within the educational institution. </li></ul><ul><li>To raise awareness that recycling provides a path to a greener future and working for it can be a lot of fun. </li></ul>

  9. 10. A group of Participants, intently putting in their words as to the Project!
  10. 11. Students searched internet to gather information Computer lab!!! Help was taken from the college students as well (they acted as mentors) School’s Library!!!
  11. 15. REDUCE REPLENISH BETTER NOT BURN THE WASTE! REUSE RECYCLE RESPECT
  12. 16. Bulletin boards were prepared to chalk out the theme of Recycling
  13. 18. This bulletin board was prepared by the participants, in the junior section of the school. The purpose was to embed the project into the school ethos
  14. 19. Bulletin board prepared in the Middle Wing!
  15. 20. A poster-making competition was held with the over-ridding theme of Recycling.
  16. 23. STUDENTS CREATED PAMPHLETS AND SIGNED A PLEDGE TO REFUSE THE USE OF PLASTIC BAGS …
  17. 24. WE ALL SAY NO TO PLASTIC BAGS!!!
  18. 25. AN ARTISTIC ALTERNATIVE TO PLASTIC BAGS WAS PRESENTED BY THE PARTICIPANTS TO DEMONSRTATE THEIR PLEDGE!...
  19. 28. The classrooms were decorated on the theme of Recycling..
  20. 31. Students participated and won an International Competition on the theme of Saving Environment …
  21. 33. Bulletin Board prepared by the students in accordance with the “Environment Day”
  22. 36. MEMBERS OF THE ENVIRONMENT CLUB PREPARED A ROLE-PLAY!!!

  42. 69. The M.D of “Environment –friendly Club”, of the city, came to evaluate the activity, had a talk with the students about the same and recorded his feed back…
