KOTA SUPER THERMAL POWER STATION
INTRODUCTION The “KOTA SUPER THERMAL POWER STATION” is ideally located on the left bank of CHAMBAL River at the upstream of “KOTA BARRAGE” thermal power station to produce electrical power for supply undertaking. Stage 1 - 2 Unit (110 MW each ) Stage 2 - 2 Unit (210 MW each) Stage 3- 1 Unit (210 MW) Stage 4- 1Unit (195 MW) Stage5- 1 Unit(195 MW)
Total generation of kstps = 1240 MW

COAL HANDLING PLANT FUNCTION - Automatic feeding of coal to boiler furnace PROCESS - 1) Coal is unloaded from rail wagons in IV unit of KSTPS 2) Coal is sent to crusher where coal is reduced to very small size Consumption of coal/Unit of electricity - 0.6 Kg Consumption/day - 20000 tons/day DEVICES - Wagon Tripler - 5 (32 wagons/hr) 2) Vibration Feeders - Electromagnetic Type 3) Conveyor belts Crushers - 6 (550 tons/hr)

FUNCTION- Turbine is a machine in which shaft is rotated by the impact of the working fluid such as steam,water etc.
Rated output -- 110 MW Rated speed – 3000 rpm Direction of rotation – clockwise Type -3 cylinder, impulse reaction Heat flow at rated output – 2152.5 kcal/kwh Quantity of oil - 1800 liters
SUPERHEATER AND REHEATER SUPERHEATER
FUNCTION- To remove last traces of moisture from steam
Material –Carbon steel ,Cr-Mo alloy
Benefit – Increase efficiency of plant
REHEATER Reheater are used to raise the temp of steam which has been expanded once in high pressure turbine. They used the heat absorbed from the flue gases.
AIR PRI-HEATER Function - To raise the temperature of air Benefit - Increases the efficiency of plant Type - plate, tubular, regenerative KSTPS - uses REGENERATIVE type
GENERATOR It converts mechanical power into electrical power. PRINCIPLE- Electromechanical energy conversion TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION- Apparent output – 137.5 MVA Active output - 110 MW Power factor – 0.85 lag Excitation voltage - 230 Volt Rated voltage – 11 KV Rated speed – 3000 rpm Phase connection – star-star
ECONOMISER Function-To extract some part of heat from flue gases & heat the feedwater Process- Counter flow of flue gases & water Benefits- Increases efficiency
CONDENSER To provide lowest economic heat rejection temperature for the steam. Thus saving on steam required per unit of electricity. To convert exhaust steam to water for reuse thus saving on feed water requirement.
COLLING TOWER It converts hot water from into cold water. Its purpose is to re use of the water. Its increase the efficiency of plant. It increase the per capital investment of plant. In K.S.T.P.S. only unit 6th and 7th has cooling tower.
ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR Used for the removal of suspended particles and fly ash from industrial flue gases PRINCIPLE- Produces an electrostatic field which attracts the ionized carbon particles and other such particulates which cause environmental pollution.
