She is an undergrad-uate student (4th year) in the department of Geography andEnvironment of University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Marufa has achievedChampion of the Champions Award in the first EnvironmentOlympiad of Bangladesh. She has participated in SERVIR HimalayaYouth Forum, ‘Earth Observation: Empowering Youth for ClimateActions in the Himalayas’ in Bangladesh, 2012 InternationalStudent Conference on Environment and Sustainability and awarded3rd prize on International Poster Competition in China. Sheparticipated in Asia Pacific Graduates’ Youth Forum on GreenEconomy in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2012 and from there she hasselected to attend UNFCCC COP 18 as Asia Pacific YouthAmbassador. She has also achieved International Award for YoungPeople by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, 2011. She was the editorof Viqarunnisa Noon Debating Club of the year 2009 and publishedyearly magazine named “SHUNRIT”. She is a lyric writer and sheis now working as a freelance journalist in a renowned Bangla dailynewspaper “Prothom Alo”. She is also involved with Quantum Foun-dation and working for the betterment of tribal children of BandarbanUpazila of Bangladesh.
