PreliminarySmoking tobacco is widely considered as a part of foodbehavior. But because of tobacco’s negative effects overdirect and indirect smokers are well studied during lastcouple of years. Unlike other parts of the world, India isalso one of the largest producer and consumer of theseproducts.Primary Smokers: chronicle smoking is a result ofpsychological phenomenon of an individual- where theyfeel the factor of RELAX. Initially smoking helps todevelop ‘Concentric Thinking’ to the smoker.Progressively in latter phases it becomes a tool forpsychological ‘Time-Filling’ and then lead the smokerinto a ‘world of relax’. But in latter phase this leads thesmoker into ‘Depressive Thinking’.Secondary smokers: Secondary or Passive smoking isusually seen around the close habitat territories wherethe Primary Smoker lives in. In this category familymembers, friends, colleagues etc of a primary smokermight in-circle.Contents a smoker inhales with every individual puff ofsmoke: Tar + Carbon Monoxide + Hydrogen Cyanide +Free Radicals + Metals (Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead) +Radioactive Compounds etc.
EffectsBefore Smoke After SmokeAccording to my studies from Batter Health Channel, smoking effects badly our Respiratory System,Circulatory System, Immune System, MusculoskeletalSystem along with other issues like- reduce ability tosmell & taste, premature wrinkling of skin, blindnessetc. The most dangerous segments associated withsmoking are:(1.) Smoker’s Unborn Baby: Increased risk ofmiscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, Low birthweight, which may have a lasting effect of the growthand development of children. Low birth weight isassociated with an increased risk for heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, being overweight anddiabetes in adulthood, Increased risk of cleft palate and
cleft lip, Paternal smoking can also harm the fetus if thenon-smoking mother is exposed to second-hand smoke.(4.) Chronicle or Life Time Smokers: Cancer of the lung, mouth, nose, voice box, tongue, nasal sinus, esophagus, throat, pancreas, bone marrow (myeloid leukaemia),kidney, cervix, ovary, ureter, liver, bladder, bowel andstomach, Lung diseases such as chronic obstructivepulmonary disease, which includes chronic bronchitisand emphysema, Coronary artery disease, heartdisease, heart attack, Ulcers in digestive system,Osteoporosis, Poor blood circulation in feet and handsetc.

How Does ItWorks?I explained this processthrough a comicrepresentation. Thereare two characters inthis comic conversation, named Mr. Chimni andMs. Chokha. Mr. Chimniis representing thecommunity of activechronic smokers andMs. Chokha isrepresenting thecommunity of Passivesmokers. Ms. Chokhaloves Mr. Chimni but atsame time hates hissmoking. As Ms. Chokha is carefulabout Mr. Chimni so sheexplored several waysto make Mr. Chimniaware of the hazards ofsmoking. After lots offailure finally she reachto a shop and purchaseda “Wax Ash Tray” andoffered Mr. Chimni as a‘Gift of Love’!It worked! Mr. Chimnifinally quit smoking!!
FormMaterialsTextureColorFORM: As smoking effects our heart so I focused overheart form. But as the real heart form is socially not soappealing that’s why I shifted to ‘Literative Heart Form’:MATERIALS: As I want to make a pallet of melting whichmay demonstrate the symbolic statement- “Look…WhatIs Going Inside Your Heart!” So selected Wax as primarymaterial- as it melts at temperature of ash. To avoid theissue of spoiling wooden table-tops I used terracotta- asit’s is respectively less priced material and available inabundance for outer cover of ash tray. I used a thin &soft fabric sheet over terracotta bottom to protect tabletop from scratches. I also used a thick paper strip- metalsheet covered on top as cigarette platform.TEXTURE: I used the texture of blood droplets over thesurface of wax coated inner bottom part of the ash tray. This helps to recall the fact- “We Need Fresh BloodWithin Our Heart to Live Healthy”!COLOR: I used Crimson Red to provide a feel of PureBlood. During melting on heat it converts into grey andblack rustic color sheds. It gives the feel of death!!
