  2. 2. <ul><li>The website we have made is different from the other skin websites. We have used a bright color scheme in order to attract the audience. The other skin websites we saw on the internet were dull as they used light colors such as baby pink, light orange, peaches, white and sky blue and light blues and so didn’t seem to capture the attention of the audience at once. Our color scheme is such that it won’t be disturbing and difficult for the website visitors to read information. Information is given on skin care tips and simple home remedies that are hard to find in most of the awareness campaign websites. We have entered precise, important and up to date information on topics so it is easy for the visitors to understand and to prevent them from getting bored by reading lengthy information. We have used flash in our website to prevent it from becoming static. It is an artistic website with easy navigation so that it is easy for the users to move from one page to another without getting lost. We have given the recent statistics of common skin diseases in our website that hard to find in any Pakistani website. Moreover, we have added music to our home page making it more interesting and entertaining. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Our media product represents particular social groups. It aims to the upper and middle class people because they are the ones who are educated and know how to use the computer and the internet for searching information on skin topics. In these two classes people are still not aware of the diseases related to skin and how these can be prevented. People can log on to our website who want to know about the skin diseases they or their family members are suffering from. Latest skin news, tips and home remedies are provided on the website for people who want a healthy and glowing skin. Many doctors who want to get information on skin also represent our website. They can get information on the latest skin diseases, their treatments and that latest news on the searches that are being carried out on skin care and diseases. Another social group that represents our media product are the science students who are studying skin and want latest information on it. These students can get information on skin diseases and their treatment. These topics are explained in simple words for the people to understand it quite easily. Moreover, people who have busy schedule can seek help through our website by mailing us their skin problems. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>A wide range of media institutions present can contribute in the distribution of my Derma concerns website as it comprises of latest research work and it is designed in a user friendly way taking special care to target large range of audience and to fully inspire and entertain them through its services. Considering these amongst others, I however believe that internet or e-marketing is the best media-institution for the purpose. </li></ul><ul><li>Internet is a fast, reliable, relatively less-expensive and covers a large range of population. A large range of the prospective customers that we are targeting are very likely to use internet as they would be from middle and upper class of society. Using services through internet such as email, e-newsletters, and animated advertisements on various busy websites such as Google, face book, etc can reach a lot of people who can benefit from our service. Further, since my product is a website, it is only a click away for people who view these advertisements. Internet is also an attractive option as increasingly, as suggested by different surveys, lot of people use internet for long hours. It can be accessed from offices, homes, internet-cafes, mobile phones, etc. Even TV is now increasingly watched on computer screens through technologies such as TV-tuner cards. This I believe will give my website maximum exposure as compared to any other media institution and hence better chances for securing customers. </li></ul><ul><li>Amongst others, these I believe are the most attractive factors that internet media-institution has to offer. This is why I believe it is the best option. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Our media product is an awareness campaign website named Derma Concerns. It provides information on skin diseases, the risks associated with them (diseases) and how these can be cured and prevented. This website is created because there is a lack of information and awareness in people about the skin hygiene and the diseases associated with it. </li></ul><ul><li>This website targets people from all age groups i.e. teenagers, middle aged people and old people. People from both genders (i.e. males and females) and any marital status (married and unmarried) are targeted. Information on diseases such as acne is provided so that teenagers and adults who suffer from it during puberty and hormonal changes can benefit from it. Information on diseases such as Scabies is also provided that is mainly the problem with infants but can also be transmitted through physical contact to people from any age group. Information on different types of rashes and marks left by diseases such as Dermatitis, Scabies, Fungal Infections is provided as well and so there is useful information for the young and the aged. </li></ul><ul><li>This site could be a great help to people who work in a dusty environments as they could get to know how to protect themselves from such diseases. Furthermore, people from any marital status can gain advantage. Skin diseases linked to new product reactions and those that are sexually transmitted can be avoided. This site can also prove useful to the medical students who can get important information and tips. The above mentioned people who are the target audience can be guided to the right path if they seek help from this site. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>We have learnt the use of various technologies from the process of constructing our product. Our product is a health campaign website named Derma Concerns. We started of with surfing the different health websites on the Internet to have a look at their logos and layouts. This gave us a clear idea what the different elements were there in those logos and how a logo usually looked like. Then we started off with designing our logos in Photoshop. After finishing our logos, the next task was designing the layout for our website in Photoshop. These pages were then moved into Dreamweaver. </li></ul><ul><li>We surfed through the net to collect information on skin and the various skin diseases associated with it. We went through several books as well. We also visited the various skin departments in several hospitals and interviewed the doctors as well. We have asked them about the various skin diseases the patients were facing recently, how to protect our skin from various skin diseases and the need for more skin clinics and skin department in hospitals of the country. </li></ul><ul><li>Moreover, we did all our photography for the website by ourselves using digital cameras. The pictures comprised of healthy skin, several patients with skin diseases, healthy diet for healthy skin etc. We also learnt how to use a video camera and made a video of an interview with the doctor. </li></ul><ul><li>We learned the use of flash software to add animation to the photographs. It was a good experience and it made our web pages look more creative. The use of such technologies has made us capable of making artistic websites. </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>To attract my target audience and keep them coming back I have tried to clearly link my aim of educating people about skin care with the usefulness and attractiveness of the website. The information on the website is delivered in a timely and organized form using different categories and user-friendly interface with easy navigation and simple outlook. Care has been adopted in keeping the website equally attractive for both men and women and people of all age and class. </li></ul><ul><li>Derma concern attempts to fully educate the people about its services and research and allow them to find maximum information at one place. The website incorporates movement, complementary colors, wonderful graphics and action which imparts a feeling of energy that help us draw attendees towards derma concerns. It carries guidance tips, remedies, videos and interviews of highly qualified dermatologists. It provides information on different topics such as various derma diseases, news and latest research. The photography assists the visitors to visibly examine different types of skin problems and their cures. All this content is updated on regular basis. The website is also designed to educate people about the available statistics on skin problems form upper and lower class both in Pakistan. This website is for everyone and they can easily contact through e-mail or web addresses and can give their useful suggestions. All these welcoming and caring factors have helped us in addressing audience towards our website. The doctors and the authorities at the Derma Concerns Clinic are concerned about the increasing number of skin patients with each passing day. This website is an attempt to create awareness amongst people about the importance of skin care and the problems relating to skin. We hope that this website would be a great help to you and provide you with useful information. </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>There are various things that I feel I have learnt during the development of my preliminary task to the full product. The preliminary task required us to make a homepage for a school which should be linked with the media department page. It was decided that the pages were to be made about Lahore Grammar School and the media section over there. </li></ul><ul><li>During the construction of the website I learned how to take high resolution pictures from our digital cameras that were to be used in both the pages of our website. I came to know about the different shots in photography such as extreme wide shot, very wide shot, wide shot, mid shot, medium close up , close up and extreme close up .These were the shots that we usually captured in our pictures but were certainly not aware of them. </li></ul><ul><li>The different tools of Photoshop were explored in the process of making our layout of the pages. By using the different tools in various areas I made my pages look more attractive and artistic. The most important part was making the buttons of the navigation bar. Mostly blending options (in Photoshop) were used to add effect to the buttons. Different tools were used to make the pictures look more appropriate and attractive on the pages. The common tools used were the transformation tool, crop tool, tool for featuring and smoothing the edges of the pictures. These further gave a creative effect to the pages. </li></ul><ul><li>Before the web pages were made it seemed very difficult to make a webpage but after moving the layout to Dreamweaver all this didn’t seem very complicated. Moreover, I learned to link pages realizing that this also was not hard at all. This creation of the task gave us an understanding of the different soft wares( Photoshop, Dreamweaver ) we used and the web pages. </li></ul>
