There has been a huge misunderstanding since the rise of social and sharing and participation and engagement and what have you. Suddenly there are all these brands that demand all these things from people, like “upload a picture of your white teeth” or “invite your friends to a testdrive with our new car” or “play this game to get 10% off”.

Companies still spend too much money by either doing social wrong or by simply spreading messages like “my sausage tastes the best”. The time is more than ripe for something that makes more sense, is more relevant and puts all these marketing dollars to work for a better world!

 every day there are all those brands knocking at my door: there is a tooth paste that wants me to send them a picture of my smile. a yoghurt brand that wants me to vote for chocolate or cinnamon or vanilla or some new kind of fruit that I have never heard of. the hotel that wants me to check in on foursquare so that all my friends can see where I stay. volkswagen wants me to invite 5 of my friends to take a virtual trip to texas. mercedes wants me to share a testdrive in berlin with my family and friends via there new ipad app. this not so classy alcohol brand wants me to download their app to mix some cocktails and to share my own recipes. sky wants me to share my impressions regarding the results in this weekend’s bundesliga games. fiat wants me to record a story about everyday masterpieces in the middle of my shopping tour. budweiser wants me to organize a party with my friends before the superbowl and live stream it in the internet. telekom wants me to take part in yet another flashmob and pretend that I have fun. htc invites me to develop their new mobile phone of the future with them, by telling them what feature I have ever dreamed of. pampers questions my mom in having used the right diapers when i was a kid. milka wants me to write love messages on big buildings. coke wants me to produce a funny video in front of a machine that does weird stuff that apparently will make others laugh. max factor sends me a lipstick so I can use it in front of youtube. approximately 98 brands per day show me pictures of their products and want me to say that I find them perfect and beautiful and useful and tell all of my friends about them.
