  • 17. The church in Ephesus began with incomplete teaching. ! This becomes a theme.
  • 18. Incomplete teaching. Attempted false miracles. Demonic powers. ! You & I would not call this a solid church start.
  • 19. But then there is verse 17.
  • 20. Incomplete teaching. Attempted false miracles. Demonic powers. ! And still people come to Jesus.
  • 21. How?
  • 22. Grace.
  • 23. Grace is not something that we conjure up, nor is it something we know to ask for.
  • 24. Grace is the result of the work of God.
  • 25. But grace is not only a result, it’s also a cause.
  • 26. These new believers forsake their old lives.
  • 27. And the Gospel continues to reign.
  • 28. But we’ve yet to figure out what Paul’s true teaching is.
  • 29. EPHESIANS 2:1-10
  • 30. You were dead.
  • 31. You can’t resurrect yourself.
  • 32. But God.
  • 33. By grace we have been saved.
  • 34. And it is out of that grace that we do good works.
  • 35. Dear Ephesus: It is not your repentance, your burning of our idols, or even my teaching that brings you to new life.
  • 36. Dear Ephesus: It is out of the grace of God that you live out the works of God.
  • 37. Dear Men of Hillside: It is not your repentance, your burning of our idols, or even our teaching that brings you to new life.
  • 38. Dear Men of Hillside: It is out of the grace of God that you live out the works of God.

  • 46. Do the works you did at first.
  • 47. Get rid of your idols. Center your life on grace.
