EU-level health policy actions on dementia Strategic Framework: •Commission Communication “EU-initiative on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias” of 2009 (COM (2009) 380 final) •Implementation report expected for July 2014 To be reported, i.a.: •Joint Action ALCOVE (2011-2013) led by France; •Context of EU-work on chronic disorders; •European Innovation Partnership Active and Healthy Ageing; •Conference "Health in Europe.   • 4. • - Understanding health, ageing and disease: determinants, risk factors and pathways • - New therapies for chronic non-communicable diseases • - Comparing the effectiveness of existing healthcare interventions in the elderly • - ERA-NET: Establishing synergies between the Joint Programming on Neurodegenerative Diseases Research and Horizon 2020 • - Development of new diagnostic tools and technologies: in vivo medical imaging technologies • - Tools and technologies for advanced therapies Societal Challenge "Health, Demographic Change and Wellbeing" Call "Personalising health and care" (2014-2015) Some topics relevant for dementia research Horizon 2020 (2014-2020)

JPND Achievements  - € 68,5 million for transnational calls (2011-2014), 15 projects ongoing (2011-2012; 2013-2014 call: projects selection on-going)  - mapping national and European research and infrastructures relevant to neurodegenerative diseases: searchable public database Globalisation – third countries  - Participation of Canada  - Discussions with the USA started  - Involved in the OECD follow-up activities of the G8 on dementia EU support to JPND  - FP7 Coordination Action Jumpahead (until August 2014)  - H2020 – WP 2014: ERA-Net: Joint Programming - Establishing synergies between the Joint Programming on Neurodegenerative Diseases Research and Horizon 2020 (peer-review ongoing)
