The group of minerals composed of silicon and oxygen (two most abundant elements available in the earth’s crust) is known as ‘silica’. This mineral is also found in an amorphous and in the crystalline state. In this composition, one silicon atom and two oxygen atoms is present, which provide a chemical formula of Sio2.
