THE PHILIPPINE OLYMPIC SPORTS COMMISSION The Philippine Sports Commission(PSC) was created through Republic ActNo.6847 in 1990 to serve as the “solepolicy-making and coordinating body of allamateur sports development programs andinstructions in the Philippines.

THE PHILIPPINE OLYMPIC COMMITTEE The Philippine Olympic Committee, theumbrella organization of all sportsassociations (NSAs), is affiliated with theInternational Olympic Committee (OIC) and isrecognized in the PSC Charter as theNational Olympic Committee (NOC) for thePhilippines. It is a private organization andautonomous on character, similar to itsaccredited and affiliated sports organizations.
THE PHILIPPINE OLYMPIC COMMITTEEO FUNCTION: It is primarily responsible for activities pertaining to the country’s participation in the Olympic Games, Asian Games, Southeast Asian Games, and other International athletic competitions in accordance respectively with the rules of the international Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia, the Southeast Asian Games federation, and the other international sports bodies.

THE NATIONAL SPORTS ASSOCIATIONS The National Sports Associations which are autonomous in character have exclusive technical control over the promotion and development of the particular sports for which they are organized. They decide on matters affecting the discipline of their athletes and officials and dispute among members;
THE NATIONAL SPORTS ASSOCIATIONS They adopt a training program for athletes development, in preparation for international competitions; They select the athletes, coaches and other officials for their team, taking into consideration not only their athletic abilities but their discipline, moral character, aptitude, and attitude.
Philippine Participation in the Olympic (1924 – 2000) The Philippines was represented forthe first time in the World Olympics. It was atwo-man delegation sent by the PhilippineAmateur Federation in the 1924 VIIITHOlympiad in Paris. David Nepomuceno, aPhilippine scout competed in the 100 m. and200 m. dash and was eliminated in the trialheats. Dr. Regino R. Ylanan was therepresentative official and coach.
