This study uses CRR model and BCC model to estimate the technical and scale efficiency of commercial banks in India during the periods 2006-2010. The results indicate that deregulation of banking sector has led to an increase in the efficiency of commercial banks in India. This increase in efficiency of banks in India is not only because of increase in pure technical efficiency but also due to increase in its scale efficiency. The results show large spread of technical efficiency between companies during the period. The estimated results also shows that performance of private sector banks has been better than public sector banks during the period and source of inefficiency is mainly due to its scale rather than pure technical inefficiency.

In the era of Internet and the accelerating rate of using the e-context as a marketing tool by wide range of companies, customer retention becomes a crucial element in firm’s survival. Losing customers to competitors in e-context is a constant threat as it is a click away .The current study aims at at investigating the influence of five customer factors namely; E-Trust, Prior Experience, Customer’s Perception of Feedback, ELoyalty and Digital Awareness on Customer Retention. The study has investigated whether E-Service Recovery Satisfaction (E-SRS) has a mediating role on these relations in Airline Industry in Malaysia. A questionnaire is designed as a data collection tool. The unit of analysis is Malaysian passengers who used the local Airlines and faced a service failure. Sequential Equation Modeling is employed to analyze the data collected using closedended multiple choice questionnaire.

The study empirically tests and compares the pricing performance of two alternative futures pricing models; the standard Cost of Carry Model and Hsu & Wang Model (2004) for three futures indices of National Stock Exchange (NSE), India – CNX Nifty futures, Bank Nifty futures and CNX IT futures. It is found that, the Hsu & Wang Model with an argument of incomplete arbitrage mechanism and real capital markets are imperfect, provides much better pricing performance than the standard Cost of Carry Model for all the three futures markets. On the basis of Mean Absolute Pricing Error (MAPE), CNX Nifty Futures contract with highest trading history and trading volume is preferred, followed by Bank Nifty futures and CNX IT futures contract for both the pricing models. This result implies that Indian futures markets are imperfect and arbitrage process cannot complete. Degree of market imperfection might influence the pricing error. Therefore, investors should know the degree of market imperfection of the futures markets in which they would like to participate.

This study examined the extent to which changes in government and political issues have affected the non-manufacturing sector of the economy putting the hospitality industry as the study base. The study covered both private and public owned hotels in Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt. Data were collected and analyzed using simple percentage and frequency distribution table. The results of our study revealed a link that management of this organization amongst others has contributed to its poor performance. The study concluded that incessant changes in government and their massive interference in the management of this industry have great effect. Also, political instability and legal system contributed greatly to their failure. It was therefore recommended that this sector of the economy should be privatized and not be allowed to be controlled by government selection and appointment. Management positions should be based on managerial capabilities and knowledge. Also, educational trainings and seminars should be often conducted to improve knowledge.

Training programs with emphasis on practical learning, targeted at the unemployed youth, who make a proactive beginning to learn the chosen-skill, play a crucial role in their skills and economic development. Such skill (technical) trainings, offered as a capsule, along with and adequate focus on motivational, managerial and financial literacy inputs bring the desired change in the unemployed youth which reflects in their taking up self-employment ventures for their own economic prosperity and their respective areas as well. The very fact was proved beyond doubt by the establishment and spread of Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institutes (RUDSETIs) in 1982 and thereafter in select locations across the country. The success of the model culminated in replication of it with the name Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) across India at the behest of Government of India with the support of respective State Governments. This vividly tells that the qualitative short-term crash training courses (Entrepreneurship Development Programs-EDPs) of these RUDSETIs, ranging from one week to six weeks’ duration, offered under a congenial learning ambience leads to rich value-addition among the unemployed youth which results in their going back to their respective areas after the training with high self-confidence and starting small business enterprises either on their own or with some bank finance. While the paper examines, in general, the role being played by the RUDSETIs with their unique training methodology in promoting self-employment among the unemployed youth, it does so, in particular, to understand in detail the activities of one of its units located at Vetapalem (now shifted to Ongole) in Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh, India.
