  • 3. San Juan Nepomuceno church was established in June 15, 1965.Originally, the church was from the Parish of San Roque and was led by the parishpriest, Padre Pulagio Camahalan in 1953. The people of Malibay were active inserving God and in fulfilling their duties as Catholics, but the number of peoplegrew larger as time passed by. The governing body of the parish decided toestablish a separate community that would have their own. The first priest whocelebrated the mass and held a confirmation in the established parish in Malibay was Rufino Cardinal Santos. The way in establishing a separate and independent parish in Malibay washard and timely but there were people who helped and contributed a lot to makethings possible, some of the sponsors were Ferdinand Marcos, President of theSenate, and Mrs. Fernando Lopez. San Juan Nepomuceno church reached its full progress in February 21,1965 and the first parish priest was Msgr. Carlos S. Inquimboy. And there is alsoRev. Pde. Antonio Tobias whom he worked with in leading the community and inserving the Lord. Now, there are 65,000 people in Malibay and 90% are proud Catholics.

  • 5. Patron Saint :San Juan Nepomuceno John of Nepomuk (or John Nepomucene) is a national saint of the Czech Republic, who was drowned in the Vltava river at the behest of Wenceslaus, King of the Romans and King of Bohemia. Later accounts state that he was the confessor of the queen of Bohemia and refused to divulge the secrets of the confessional. On the basis of this account, John of Nepomuk is considered the first martyr of the Seal of the Confessional, a patron against calumnies and, because of the manner of his death, a protector from floods.
