  • 2. Source:growthAnagen•The growing stage (approx 90% of hair)•Lasts 2 – 6 years•Mitosis is occurring (new cells being formed)•Hair grows between 1 and 1.5cm per month•Hair bulb is rounded and full and contains melanin
  • 3. Source:growthCatagen•The transition stage (approx 1-2% of hair)•Lasts 1 – 2 weeks•Mitosis stops•Germinal matrix shrinks away from papilla
  • 4. Source:growthTelogen• The resting stage (approx 8-9% of hair )• Lasts 3 – 4 months• follicle has shrunk away from papilla• hair falls out – approx 50 – 80 hairs per day are lost
  • 5. The following factors create an interruption of the normal cycle causing excessivehair loss:•Change in diet•Drugs•Stress•Illness•Post Pregnancy
