Aids Orphans Rising - Presentation Transcript

    1. AIDS Orphans Rising
      • What you should know and what you can do to help them succeed
    2. AIDS Orphans: Who They Are?
      • AIDS Orphans are children left on their own due to the death of both their parents.
      • There are hundreds of thousands of AIDS orphans in many countries of the world, particularly in African countries.
      • A household consisting of AIDS Orphans is called a Child Headed Household (CHH).
      • Every 14 seconds a CHH is formed somewhere in the world.
    3. AIDS Orphans: Where They Live?
      • Some of these orphan kids are let in by their relatives; some are left a small house by their deceased parents; some have to live in the open at the mercy of nature; and some are lucky enough to be adopted by people.
      • In any case, these kids prefer to stay together with their siblings. Living with others or in the open, they are at risk of exploitation and abuse.
      • Volunteer organizations are striving to provide accommodation to these children
    4. AIDS Orphans: What They Eat?
      • Many of these find little food to eat and have to beg for it. A number of them start working, while still going to school, to feed themselves and their younger siblings.
      • Some AIDS orphans sell nuts and grains to survive. A few of them learn technical skills and do child labor.
      • Some young girls are compelled to practice prostitution to get food.
    5. AIDS Orphans: Can We Save Them?
      • Yes we can, provided that we care for them. And surely, we do. Here is how?
      • Donate to voluntary Organizations who are helping these kids.
      • Adopt an AIDS orphan either by bringing him/her along or distantly providing for his/her needs.
      • Send small items of daily use (shoes, stationary, canned food, dried fruit, clothes, medicine, and other such items) to them via their helpers.
      • Send an e-mail to your family/friends, asking them to help these needy children.
      • Start your own group or non-profit organization to collect funds and other items of daily living for them.
      • Pray for them and for people who are helping them.
    6. AIDS Orphans Rising: Come Forward to Save Lives!
      • Read Sister Mary Elizabeth’s book AIDS Orphans Rising to learn more about AIDS orphans and how they can be helped.
      • Visit the AIDS Orphans website http://aidsorphansrising.org/ to learn more and get a copy of the book.
      • Order the book directly by writing to: [email_address]
      • All the profit from this book’s sale goes into helping child headed households.
