  • With the passage of Sarbanes-Oxley legislation, there was increased scrutiny of how accounting management safeguards the integrity and validity of their transactions. The Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Objective was to prevent users with one type of role or responsibility from having other roles and responsibilities that may compromise internal controls.Responsibilities within the accounting department must be divided so that any one person does not control all aspects of a transaction. Consequently, it would be unlikely that an Accounts Payable person would have the ability to create vendors, book the vouchers, and cut the checks unless others are involved in supervising and approving parts of these transactions. In the initial version of Costpoint Web, this functionality was first introduced in Costpoint. The release of CP7 will allow all users to access and use the Segregation of Duties functionality.
