WHERE DOES CHOCOLATE COME FROM? • Chocolate comes from a small tropical tree usually called “Cacao”. • Cacao is a Native to Central and South America but it grew commercially throughout the tropics. • About 70% of the world’s cacao has been grown in Africa. • The ridged , football shape pod , or fruit of the cacao grows from the branches and oddly straight out of the trunk.

MYTHS ABOUT CHOCOLATE • Chocolate raises bad cholesterol • Chocolate is high in caffeine • The sugar in chocolate causes hyperactivity • People with diabetes have to give up chocolate • Chocolate causes tooth decay and cavities • Chocolate makes you gain weight • Chocolate causes acne MYTHS!!!
  • 4. FACTS ABOUT CHOCOLATE • Chocolate has anti- bacterial effect on the mouth and protect against tooth decay. • Eating dark chocolate every day reduces the risk of heart disease by one third. • It takes approximately 400 cacao beans to make one pound (450 GR.) of FACTS!!
