  4. 4. Do you know someone that has sexted before? <ul><li>88% of students at West said yes they know someone that has sexted in their past. </li></ul>Teenagers don’t think about how the Photos they take can potential end up In the hands of colleges or employers.

Do you think sexting can be related to problems in people’s lives? <ul><li>76% of students at West said yes they believe sexting can somehow relate to other problems in people’s lives. </li></ul><ul><li>Explanations: </li></ul><ul><li>Yes, sexting can relate to the pressures in a persons life. </li></ul><ul><li>yes, when you send a picture so someone they could forward it to everyone in the school. </li></ul>Often times suicide is a result of sexting because The pictures somehow got out and the ridicule Becomes too much.
  7. 7. Did you know that sexting is illegal? <ul><li>72% of students at West said they were aware that sexting is illegal. </li></ul>If you are under 18 and you knowingly send or receive nude/ Semi-nude photos you can be charged with Possession of child pornography.

Do you think sexting should be illegal? <ul><li>52% of students at West said they agree with the law. </li></ul><ul><li>20% said they don’t care either way. </li></ul><ul><li>28% said no they disagree sexting shouldn’t be illegal. </li></ul><ul><li>Examples: </li></ul><ul><li>no they think its harmless and no one else will see the pictures. </li></ul><ul><li>no people don't think about it i think they try to impress people and is a heat of the moment kind of thing. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Do you think people realize what they are doing when the sext? <ul><li>24% of students at West said yes they think people realize what they are doing when they sext. </li></ul>Many teenagers say they Sext to be fun or flirtation.

Why do you think people sext? <ul><li>Explanations: </li></ul><ul><li>pressure to send pictures, make a guy want you. </li></ul><ul><li>Because they are stupid and survive off attention. </li></ul><ul><li>because they want others to see them the way they see themselves. </li></ul><ul><li>They do it to please other people. </li></ul><ul><li>to impress a guy. </li></ul>

What do you think can be done to show people the dangers of sexting? <ul><li>Explanations: </li></ul><ul><li>show the statistics of how much it harms people. </li></ul><ul><li>i think the parents of teens who have done this and killed themselves could travel to schools and tell their stories. </li></ul><ul><li>you could teach about it in health class and show cases where girls have been exposed to the whole school and have no privacy because they sent a picture of themselves. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Connection to Twisted: <ul><li>In the book Twisted, Tyler is at a party with the most popular girl in school, Bethany. They get in a fight and Tyler leaves Bethany’s side for a couple hours. The next night Tyler’s sister shows Tyler pictures online that were taken of Bethany at the party of her not completely clothed. Someone took advantage of Bethany while she was under the influence and Tyler is a suspect. </li></ul>
