Music videos godwins theory

  1. 1. Music Videos Goodwin’s Theory
  2. 2. JLS – She Makes Me Wanna The music video follows the typical boy band genre characteristics, with the group dancing. There are a few shots of the individual band members, however this maybe be more of a reference to ‘the notion of looking’ in particular Aston who has his top of a lot! This can be interpreted as a form of voyeuristic. The lyrics don’t have a great relationship with the visuals, but the dancing and music do.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuwTgZOKcf8
  3. 3. Lawson – When She Was Mine Different style to JLS, although they are a boy group the fact they play their instruments slides them into a rock grouping. The are a close up shots of the band performing, highlighting their talents, though this could be the record labels input to get the group recognised. The music video also included narrative of the couple, therefore the video had some relationship between lyrics and visual. The narrative includes the bands lead singer which could be another influence from the record label to get key members recognised/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmQRAXJoHg0
  4. 4. The Script – The Man Who Can’t Be Moved A Group very similar in style to Lawson. Play their own instruments, of which we get some close up of. The main focus is on the lead singer/front man. The lead singer is even in the narrative side of the music video which has a strong relationship between the lyrics and the visual. A possible reason for using the lead singer in this is for publicity, however, seen as hardly anyone recognised him on The Voice it’s doubtful it workedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=gS9o1FAszdk
