    • A basic introduction on digital signal processing, then its major principle of working, and its applications.
    • Then a basic introduction on FPGA, its manufacturers, present majorly using fpga, some of its practical applications.
    • Then a historic prospective of dsp based fpga, what is use of dsp collaborating with fpga ?
    • The major part of my paper -SPARATAN 3A-DSP FPGA VIDEO STARTER KIT consists of VGA CAM MODULE BASED ON {a Micron MT9V022 CMOS image sensor}.

  • What is DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING SYSTEM?
    • Digital signal processing refers to the electronic processing of signals such as sound, radio, and microwaves .
    • Digital signal processing algorithms typically require a large number of mathematical operations to be performed quickly and repetitively on a set of data.
    • Signals (perhaps from audio or video sensors) are constantly converted from analog to digital, manipulated digitally, and then converted again to analog form, as diagrammed below.

  • What is field programmable gate arrays
    • Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are programmable semiconductor devices that are based around a matrix of configurable logic blocks (CLBs) connected via programmable interconnects.
  • Majorly used FPGA’s   ALTERA Stratix IV GX FPGA . An example of an FPGA board
  • DSP BASED FPGA’S
    • DSP is becoming a highly ubiquitous technology, seeing its application not only in a myriad of consumer, automotive and telephony products, but also in an increasingly advanced class of devices.
    • Applications such as wireless base stations, radar processing, fingerprint recognition and software-defined radio demand very high performance processing .
    • The first DSP-empowered FPGAs appeared on the scene, DSP designers began using these devices to bolster the capabilities of their processors.
    • With this approach, an FPGA complements the processor by accelerating performance-critical portions of the DSP algorithm.
  • HISTORIC PROSPECTIVE of dsp based fpgas
    • In the early 1990s, designers confronted the challenge of mustering more horsepower by deploying multiple processors to meet their performance needs. However, system-level design becomes difficult when coordinating the functionality of multiple processors, not to mention that this approach is costly and wasteful of resources.
