  • 1. Welcome to WITT Library/Learning Centre
    • This introduction will give you some basic information you need to use the Library
    • If you have any questions, please ask at any time
  • 2. How do I join the library?
    • Your ID card is also your library card
    • Register at the Issue Desk
    • You must have your card to borrow items
  • 3. What else do I need to know about borrowing?
    • You may have up to 6 items on loan at one time
    • Books are issued for 4 weeks
    • Videos and serials are issued for 1 week
  • 4. When I return items to the library where do I put them?
    • There is a returns slot at the end of the Issue Desk
    • When the library is closed, there is an after hours slot outside
  • 5. What if I have not finished with the items that I have on loan?
    • You can renew the items if no one else is waiting for them by…
    • asking at the Issue Desk
    • renewing them online through the library catalogue
    To avoid fines, renew items before they become overdue
  • 6. What if my books are late back?
    • Overdue notices are sent in the post or via email
    • Fines will be charged on overdue items when returned to the library
    • After 1 month if the item is not returned, an account will be generated
  • 7. What if someone has the book that I want?
    • You can reserve an item that is out on loan by…
    • asking at the Issue Desk to place a reserve
    • reserving it online through the library catalogue
    Remember, you can only reserve items that are already out on loan
  • 8. How do I find what I need in the library?
    • Use the library online catalogue (OPAC)
    • The OPAC lists everything held in the library
    • Tells you where to find it
    Remember to ask for help if you can’t find what you need
  • 9. Closed Reserve
    • Issued for 2 hours
    • Need your ID card to borrow them
    • Everyone gets fair access to key texts
  • 10. You might be interested to know……….
    • If the library doesn’t own the item you need, we may be able to interloan it from another library for you.
    • Free of charge
    • Allow up to 2 weeks for the item to arrive
    • Forms at Issue Desk

    • Term time:
    • Monday – Thursday 8am – 7pm
    • Friday 8am – 4:30pm
    • Saturday 8:30am – 12:30pm
    • Holiday hours:
    • Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm
    • Closed Public Holidays
  • 14. If I don’t know how to use the library will someone show me?
    • YES - ask us for help
    • We offer a range of tutorials or individual sessions
    • A Reference Desk is available each day from 3-4 pm
