Best Practice• The teacher explicitly teaches vocabularyspecific to their subject or topic.• The teacher will clearly display and verbalise in each class the lessonfocus.• The Hook– Grab student attention. E.g. use visuals, props or somethingrelated to students’ interests.• Prior Knowledge (Getting Knowledge Ready – Munro) When beginninga unit, or a lesson (where applicable) tie into what the students alreadyknow. Use questioning techniques to draw out class, group or individualknowledge.• Review -At the end of the lesson the teacher should refer back to thelearning focus and have students reflect on what they have learnt.
