  • 2. The Birth of Hercules <ul><li>Hercules was one of the sons produced by Zeus in his many love affairs. Hercules became immortal when Zeus put the infant at the breast of his divine spouse Hera as she slept. It was a sneaky deal. Having suckled the divine milk of the goddess, Hercules became immortal, but ever after he was dogged by the enmity of the goddess, who was irate at the infidelity of her husband Zeus. </li></ul>
  • 3. The Revenge of Hera <ul><li>Hera worked to make the life of Hercules a living hell. Since he had become one of the immortals, she could not kill him, but she could make his life miserable. At one point Hera cast a spell on Hercules, such that he fell into a fit of madness and uncontrollable rage. Hercules was immensely tall and strong and skilled with weapons, so that in his madness no one could oppose or control him. Fuming in madness, he killed his children. </li></ul>
  • 4. 12 LABORS OF IMMORTAL LIFE <ul><li>[1}King Eurystheus decided Hercules' first task would be to bring him the skin of an invulnerable lion which terrorized the hills around Nemea. </li></ul><ul><li>[2]Hercules was to kill the Leonean Hydra. From the murky waters of the swamps near a place called Lerna, </li></ul>
  • 5. Continuation <ul><li>3. Capture the Golden Hind of Artemis. </li></ul><ul><li>4. Capture the Erymanthian Boar. </li></ul><ul><li>5. Clean the Augean stables in a single day. </li></ul><ul><li>6. Slay the Stymphalian Birds. </li></ul><ul><li>7. Capture the Cretan Bull. </li></ul>
  • 6. Continuation <ul><li>8. Steal the Mares of Diomedes. </li></ul><ul><li>9. Obtain the Girdle of the Amazon Queen. </li></ul><ul><li>10. Obtain the Cattle of the Monster Geryon. </li></ul><ul><li>11. Steal the Apples of the Hesperides. </li></ul><ul><li>12. Capture and bring back Cerberus. </li></ul>
  • 7. After The 12 Labors <ul><li>As a reward for finishing these twelve treacherous tasks, he was given the gift of immortality after his death by Zeus, his father. Hera forgave him and gave him her daughter Hebe for his bride. </li></ul>
