MOBILE BANKINGMobile banking (also known as M-Banking, m -banking) is a term used for performingbalance checks, a/c transactions, payments, credit applications & other banking transactionsthrough a mobile device such as a mobile phone or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).On 27th Oct, 2003 HDFC Bank & Reliance India Mobile have joined hands to launch anInteractive Mobile Banking service in India.According to HDFC Bank press release, all bank customers who are also Reliance IndiaMobile subscribers can now view their bank a/c balance, get mini statement, fixed depositsdetails & make request for cheque book & a/c statements, apart from making bill paymentby direct contact to the a/c from their mobile handsets. After registering with HDFC Bank for the Mobile Banking service, a Reliance IndiaMobile subscriber can access the facility directly from R World on the handset. Thecustomers will be presented with a detailed menu of about ten banking activities that can bedone through the mobile phone.Mr. Naveen Puri, Country Head (Retail Branch Banking) of HDFC Bank, says that "withthis alliance we offer our customers the most comprehensive of advanced Mobile BankService
