  • 1. GPRS ACHITRCTURE
    • David Parulian Pane
    • Gindo Nagari Hendy
  • 2. Understanding GPRS
    • Understanding GPRS: a packet-oriented mobile data service available to users of 2G mobile communication system of global system for mobile communications (GSM), and also the 3G system
  • 3. Reason for use GPRS
    • Reasons for the use of GPRS:
    • able to take advantage of global coverage capabilities owned GSM
    • eliminate or reduce some of the barrier for mobile data access
    • offers a communication link in the form of point-to-point or multipoint
    • security has been a hallmark for packet data.
    • appeared as a communication 'always' connected so that a relationship sessions short and direct access to the internet
    • has a data rate up to 115 kbps, which means double the connections 'dial up' the current 56 kbps
  • 4. Aplication GPRS
    • Because the GPRS packet-based, cost or usage rate is determined by the amount of data transferred rather than based on connection time. This means suitable for a series of internet services
    • wireless access to data bases
    • access to intranet / internet mobile
    • e-commers (banking, points of sale locations)
    • messages
    • Settings or fleet management or convoy
    • Traffic information, guiding travel / reservation system
    • security systems
    • Telemetry
    • Highway charging system
  • 5. Components GPRS
    • BSC ( Base Service Controller )
    • SGSN ( Serving GPRS Support Node )
    • GGSN ( Gateway GPRS Support Node )
    • EIR (Equiptment Identity Register)/ AUC (Autentification Center)
    • VLR (Visitor Location Register)
    • HLR (Home Location Register)
  • 6. GPRS Components Function
    • SGSN (Serving GPRS Support Node)
    • deliver packet data to MS
    • Update customers to HLR
    • New customer registration
    • GGSN (Gateway GPRS Support Node)
    • Interface to the PDN
    • Information Routing
    • MS - Mobile Station
    • directly with the GSM network
    • directly with the GSM network
  • 7. GPRS Components Function
    • BSS - Base Station System
    • Handles well for signal
    • HLR - Home Location Register
    • Storing user data GPRS service
    • VLR - Visitor Location Register
    • Provide information to MS
    • EIR - Equiptment Identity Register / AUC - Authentication Center
    • deliver the packet data in the form of IP
  • 8. GPRS in the GSM architecture
  • 9. GPRS Backbone Network Architecture
  • 10. GPRS backbone network components
    • GPRS backbone network architecture has several components:
    • Border Gateway GPRS network link between the operator so that the data communication through different operators can be done
    • DNS - Domain Name Sever Server which provides a logical name change to the IP address or vice versa. Control in addition to changing the IP address for the Internet network, also change the IP address for GPRS own local network
    • LIG - Lawful Interception Gateway This section allows you to store traffic data specific to each user. LIG contains information (log) traffic data to be transferred by the user
  • 11. Security GPRS backbone
    • Firwall and Network Management Stations (FNMS & NMS)
    • Firewalls are used to prevent the GPRS network from outside attack.
    • There are 2 kinds:
    • Intra-PLMN backbone network, connecting between GSN dlm an operator the same
    • Inter-PLMN backbone network connecting the GSN and intra-PLMN backbone network between the operator and provides GPRS international roaming
  • 12. Closing
    • thank for a attention ...
    • sorry for our mistake....
