dwightEitzen aiaAdaptive Re-use, Kandern, GermanyThe attic space of this building(parts of it dating back to the1700’s) was slated for storagespace. One look at the arc ofthe beams inspired theimaginations of all who sawthe space. It was adapted tobe used as a library for a smallschool in rural Germany. Thetrick to this project wasarranging the spaces so thestacks were over a part of thebuilding that could handle theloads required by numerousbooks.
dwightEitzen aiaImation World Headquarters, Oakdale, MinnesotaThis was a great projectand it was great to be apart of the projectteam. The building waseventually published inArchitecture Minnesota. The schedule was tightand the drawing setsmassive, but the endresult was very pleasingfor everyone involved inthe project.
dwightEitzen aiaEntry Addition Study, CroatiaThis project was well underwaybefore we came on board. However, there was nodistinguishing entry to this smallrural church. The goal was tonot only give the entry clarity, but also make it inviting. Thedesire was to keep the scalesmall and to avoid thetraditional iconic feeling that isassociated with “church”.

dwightEitzen aiaAdaptive Re-use of water tower, Poland This structure started its life in the early 1900s as a water tower, serving a rural town in Poland. As the town grew and water needs change, the tower sat largely abandoned until it was purchased by a radio station. We were approached to develop a scheme whereby the tower could be uses not only for broadcasting, but also have a small apartment for visiting radio hosts, a coffee shop and visitor’s center.
