  • • Action has been taken to increase area of horticulture crops using funds of National Horticulture Mission. Till the end of march 2012 an area of 425 Ha of horticulture crop has been increased utilizing Rs. 64.80 lakhs. And 412 Ha of horticulture crop area is maintained utilizing Rs. 22.27 lakhs• Under MNREGS Rs.16 lakhs have been spent in collaboration with Grama Panchayath for area expansion of Horticulture Crops. 44
  • • Under Promotion of Organic Farming 100 Ha of Horticulture area has been issued IC-3 Certificate in two clusters each 50 Ha in Udupi and Kundapura Taluk. 8 training programs for organic farming promotion are being completed under National Project on Organic Farming Scheme.• Till the end of March 2012 Department assisted 5 Vermi Compost Units and 15 Bio-digester Units using Rs.6 lakhs under National Note = IC-3 Certificate is issued by the organic certifying agency for Horticulture from inorganic to organic cultivation and the area conversion of land Mission. So as to enhance the operateddeclared as organic method of of conversion cultivation is under organic farming after 3 years cultivation period. 45
