  • 2. Message from the President! Kate Perkins
    • This is a place that the community fought for, raising their voices to create a centre that would be a legacy serving this diverse and vibrant neighbourhood for many years to come. We plan on this being a true hub of the community, more than a recreation centre, a place where neighbors can gather and connect.

  • 5. Trout Lake Community Centre Program Committee Strategic Plan The Trout Lake Community Centre will be a hub that brings residents together to participate in an active and healthy lifestyle that benefits them socially and recreationally.
    • 1. Increase program participation rates.
      • Increase Participations by 50% over the next 5 years
      • Increase opportunities for schools, youth and seniors
    • 2. Maximize use of the facility to increase revenue
      • Improve Marketing and Promotion and develop a price strategy.
      • Evaluate usage and requirements on a regular basis
    • 3. Promote Arts and Culture Opportunities
      • Increase opportunities for arts/culture in the community centre and partner with other art organizations
    • 4. Seek community input and work with local groups to provide feedback.
      • Continue to develop the program committee
      • Solicit feedback from patrons, sport organizations and service clubs.
      • Recruit volunteers and strengthen board and patron relationship

    • The motto of Shorinji Kempo is “Half for one’s own happiness, and half for the happiness of others.
  • 12. Tai Chi 24 Form Kelly Maclean
    • Kelly competed for Canada internationally, and won many medals and three Grand Champion titles in the 1990’s. She has been teaching since 1989.
  • 13. Yoga classes with Gerie
    • Gerie began practicing Iyengar yoga in 1987, and is a certified instructor with over 10 years teaching experience. She studied with the Iyengar family in India.
  • 14. Yoga classes with Billie
    • Billie Murphy is a registered RYT Yoga instructor and teaches Prenatal, Hatha, and Power Yoga classes. As a teacher, her goal is to pass on the joy of movement and self-expression in a healing way.

    • All classes taught by professional dancers who love teaching children. Last session is viewing day.
  • 17. Ballet with Yana
    • Yana Draguieva has taught Classical ballet for children and professional students for 16 years. She graduated as a professional ballet dancer in Bulgaria, and danced for professional dance companies in Europe and Canada.
  • 18. Swing, Salsa and Blues Dancing
    • Corey believes anyone with desire can learn to dance. The hardest part is having patience with oneself.
    • Samia started dancing at an early age, she, trained in Tap, Jazz and Belly Dancing, but found she was drawn to the Latin dances of Reggatone, Salsa and Bachata. 
  • 19. Singing Fun for Adults Alison Berry
    • Do you sing in the shower? Do you sing only when nobody’s listening? Then this is the class for you! No experience necessary!
  • 20. Billie Murphy Ballet Instructor
    • Born and raised in Vancouver, Billie started singing, dancing, and acting as a wee thing in a purple sparkly tutu. She is a graduate of the Musical Theatre Diploma Program at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City.
  • 21. Piano Lessons with Iris
    • Iris has been teaching piano for over 9 years. She completed Grade 8 RCM in piano by the age of 11 with Honours. She enjoys finding fun ways to enhance children’s education through piano.

    • Tarrynea has been teaching pottery since 1975 and graduated from Georgian Collage where she studied ceramics.
  • 27. Beginner Self-Portrait Katharine Dickinson
    • Katharine is a professional artist, illustrator and portrait painter who specializes in both traditional painting and digital techniques.
  • 28. Messterpiece 3-4 years
    • Messterpiece, the ultimate art class for kids! We say YES to the Mess!
  • 29. Pottery Classes with Laura
    • Laura Van der Linde is a ceramic artist working in Vancouver. Her work in clay through the last twenty years has been imbued with vivid and bold color and design. She can’t wait to share her clay secrets to the students.
