Transcript of "Faith gray's 7th grade ela powerpoint presentation 6th period"

  1. 1. Faith GrayPowerPoint Multimedia Presentation Project 10/22/12
  2. 2. Jonas from “The Giver”Jonas’s adversity is he fears being the receiver.“ He did not know what he was to become. Or what would become of him.”
  3. 3. Jonas from “The Giver”Jonas overcame his adversity by running away from the community.“The community where his entire life had been lived lay behind him now, sleeping.”
  4. 4. Adam Zebrin (also known asZebra) from “Zebra”Adam’s adversity was he was hit by a car.“Then, a year ago, racing down Franklin Avenue, he had given himself that push and had begun to turn into an eagle, when a huge rushing shadow appeared in his line of vision and crashed into him and plunged him into a darkness from which he emerged very, very slowly…”
  5. 5. Adam Zebrin (also known asZebra) from “Zebra”One way Adam started to overcome his adversity was by using art as a hobby.“He put together clowns, airplanes, and helicopters out of discarded cardboard, clothing, and wood. From time to time his hand hurt, but his fingers seemed slowly to be coming back to life.”
  6. 6. Lance Armstrong from “It’s notabout the bike”Lance’s adversity was he had cancer.“After his cancer diagnosis, Lance Armstrong launched a relentless attack against his disease with the help of the doctors and nurses at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.”
  7. 7. Lance Armstrong from “It’s notabout the bike”Lance started to overcome his adversity with the kind words of a nurse, LaTrice Haney.“When you’re cured, hey, let me see you in the papers, on TV, but not back here. I hope to help you at the time you need me, and then I hope I’ll be gone.”
  8. 8. ReflectionFrom all of the characters’ adversities and the way they solved them, I have learned that there isn’t only one way to solve an adversity. I also learned if you don’t give up, you’ll find a way to solve your problems. For example, Jonas overcame his adversity by running away. Zebra overcame his adversity by using a hobby. Lance started to overcome his adversity with kind words. If you don’t give up, you’ll eventually overcome your adversity.
