Slide 1: The Hmong Hill Tribe of northern Thailand Meo
Slide 4: This tribe, also known as the Meo, are nomads who have communities present across South East Asia as well as China.
Slide 5: There are believed to be a total of 65,000 Hmong living in Thailand, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Phetchaban.
Slide 6: There are about four million Hmong living in southern China and this tribe has strong cultural similarities with Chinese people.
Slide 8: Apart from the cultivation of opium, the Hmong hill tribe are renowned animal breeders who produce good quality ponies.
Slide 9: In Laos, a significant number of Hmong/Mong people fought against the communist-nationalist Pathet Lao during the Secret War. When the Pathet Lao took over the government in 1975, Hmong/Mong people were singled out for retribution, resulting in many fleeing to Thailand.
