    • Why Monitor Your Brand/Business?  People are talking about your brand and your products – are you listening?  Are you in a job search?  Need to quickly gather information about potential employers?  Desire to stay up-to-date on a topic of interest?  Want to do all of this quickly and efficiently?
    • How Can You Do This?  Listening is easier than you think  Key is RSS/ATOM feeds  regularly updated summaries of web content  include links to full versions of that content  Subscribe to a web site’s feed to receive a summary of new content from that site
    • What is Google Reader?  Free, web-based feed reader / content aggregator  Capable of reading ATOM and RSS feeds  Requirements for use  (Free) Google Mail account  One of the following current generation browsers  Google Chrome  Mozilla Firefox  Windows Internet Explorer  Apple Safari  Opera
    • What is Google Reader?  Google Reader can help you found out what people are saying about you, your products, or anything at all  Google  Twitter  Facebook  Blogs  Forums  YouTube and other sources
    • Hypothetical Example  Use Google Reader to “listen” for the term “Social Media Specialist.”

    • Set up Google Alerts for Relevant Keywords alerts.google.com
    • View Feed in Google Reader reader.google.com
    • (Advanced)Twitter Search search.twitter.com
