    • With the support of the advisory group:
      • Pennsylvania Economic Development Association (PEDA)
      • Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED)
      • Governor’s Office of Housing and Revitalization
      • Pennsylvania Planning Association (PPA)
      • Pennsylvania Housing and Finance Agency (PHFA)
      • U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)
      • PaSDC Affiliates
  3. Our proposal was to….
    • Develop and deliver analytical skills training to economic and workforce development professionals in Pennsylvania
      • With the purpose to introduce and improve the data access and analytical skills of professionals charged with preparing proposals and plan to improve Pennsylvania’s economic competitiveness.
  4. Our Goals…
    • Strengthen relationships between Penn State and stakeholders; workforce and economic development practitioners; and state and local officials and planners.
    • Conduct hands-on, one-day, web-based trainings that teach attendees:
      • The location of relevant data sources
      • Which data sources best match their needs
      • Downloading web-based data into a desired format
  5. Our Goals…
    • Create a tool that can be updated as new data becomes available
    • Create workshop materials and procedures that serve as easy-to-use reference points after the workshops
    • Gain accreditation from the following associations: PEDA, PPA and, perhaps others
    • A user fee will be charged in order to make the workshop self-sufficient over time
  6. The Workshops /Presentations:
    • Full Day Workshops were held at the following locations and served professionals in 20 counties across Pennsylvania
      • Penn State Worthington / Scranton coordinated by PaSDC and NEPA (5 attendees)
      • Penn State DuBois coordinated by PaSDC, Seda-COG and NCPRPDC (9 attendees)
      • Penn State Harrisburg coordinated by PaSDC (2 workshops – 30 attendees)
  7. The Workshops/Presentations:
    • Presentations were held at these venues:
      • Pennsylvania State Data Center Annual Conference (30 participants)
      • Pennsylvania Planning Association Conference (25 participants)
      • Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission: Predatory Lending Workshop (40 participants)
      • Pennsylvania Basic Economic Development Course (48 participants)
  8. What Next….
    • Continuation of the workshops on a quarterly basis. The following workshops are planned.
      • Penn State Worthington / Scranton
      • Penn State Harrisburg
      • Seda-COG
      • Others upon request
