2. 2. What is Threadless.com
Threadless is an online community that aims to produce T-shirts featuring the work of participating artists.
Timeline
Started in the year 2000 with $1,000 won from an internet t-shirt design contest
2000-2002 - Jake Nickell & Jacob DeHart meet in an online design forum and begin collaborating on creating t-shirts out of the work submitted by the other artists based on their competition experience.
2003-2004 - Threadless started as proof of the founders’ ability to build e-commerce sites. It was a sideline to their website development business.
2004-2006 - The t-shirt demand outgrew the 900sf apartment they were living in and they move into 3,700sf space. By 2006, they had moved into their current 25,000sf space.
2007 - present - They have added international sales to their portfolio, growing the Threadless community.
