  • It's not mobile social media... it's just social media being accessed via a mobile device! What's different is the device a person chooses to use to access and post to social platforms. The immediate and personal nature of mobile has massive implications for marketers, but the whole concept of 'the mobile web' or 'mobile social media' is inherently flawed... it's the web and social media.

    What's changing is the device used to access / post / share content -- the medium itself is the same.

  • I think mobile social media will have a place as a marketing tool for businesses, but are regular folks getting overwhelmed with all the social media tools they need to master and keep up with? That's what my business friends and associates are telling me.

    • 62. The danger is that consumers will be trained like Pavlov’s dogs, learning to salivate for rewards, not because they are truly motivated.<br />
    • 63. Or consider the Tragedy of the Commons, where the land can turn barren if every shepherd solely looks out for himself, not the community. The same could happen if marketers try to over-reward their consumers until there’s no intrinsic motivation left in the tank.<br />
    • 64. The good news:<br />The upside is external rewards can be part of an overall program that still emphasizes intrinsic wants. <br />
