Dichos planos se abren encelosía frente al espacio del fo-yer mediante una fachada que propor-ciona identidad al casino graciasal sistema digital de iluminaciónque se extiende hacia la marquesi-na. Las luminarias de fluorescenciatubular, diseñadas por Artec3 paraeste proyecto específico, refuerzanel carácter facetado de la facha-da, al tiempo que forman un conjuntocoherente e indisoluble junto a losplanos arquitectónicos de hormigóncoloreado.La distribución de las luminariasde modo lineal se plasma en unatrama de píxeles no solo en el pla-no inclinado de la fachada, sinotambién en el plano horizontal queconstituye el espacio de entradaal Gran Casino. De este modo, lasluminarias –representadas como unamatriz media de leds SMD RGB orde-nados a distancia de 1 metro– seconvierten en foco de atracciónpara los visitantes gracias al di-namismo que transmiten los efectosde color y movimiento generados apartir del instante en que empiezaa anochecer. Así, El Molino recupera y amplía su pa- pel de faro del Paral·lel que ya tenía, y que ahora, con las nuevas tecnologías incorporadas, permiti- rá explorar insólitas interaccio- nes con la ciudad y con la progra- mación interior.16

Sports Pavilion Rotterdam Lighting Project: Recently a new sports-pavilion is MoederscheimMoonen Architects delivered for two soccer clubs in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The cantileve-red roof is build with two translu-cent membranes spanned over a steelconstruction. With the lighting ar-matures integrated in between, thewhole setting works like a lampoon;lighting the roof from the inside.The idea of a illuminated roof wasalready born in the first sketchesof the design process. Thanks tothe awareness of lighting in thisearly stage, the lighting conceptis fully integrated and enginee-red in the roof design. SustainableLED powered TL armatures are inte-grated in the cantilevered roof.Thanks to the inner reflection, thelight is spread over the whole sur-face of the roof.Both the roof and the grass-coveredslopes contribute to the sustai-nability of the design. The rooffilters direct sunlight during theday, reducing the development ofunnecessary warmth in the building.The grass-covered slopes provideextra insulation to the ground flooron a natural way. Torre de compensación de Proyecto de iluminación: El parque de la Fontsanta en Sant Manuel Ruisánchez; ANOCHE; AG4 Joan Despí aloja una infraestruc-la Estación de Bombeo de tura territorial que abastece de Arquitecto: agua a Barcelona y su área Metropo-ATLL-Fontsanta Manuel Ruisánchez litana. A pesar de haber sido concebido a partir de unas necesidades concretas, la solución resulta exportable. De alguna manera estos sistemas trabajan con la luz de ambas natu- ralezas, y buscan en su combinación en el transcurso del tiempo su ra- zón de ser.42

Theresult led to a comparison with theinterior of a cathedral. The imagewe created is like an extra layeron the façades of the buildings.The everyday street with everydaytraffic was given two identities.The vertical lines invoke a co-lumn formation and in combinationwith the broken light pattern onthe pavement, create a spatial sen-se. Indirect but guided light ensu-res that glare and light pollutionare avoided and that the street isclearly illuminated and comfor-table on the eyes. A new opticalsystem was developed for 18 custommade luminaries. The projectionseach originate in one 70W metal ha-lide lamp at a height of 6 meters.Road lighting(9 x 35W) is providedin accordance with municipalityregulations. The lighting createsvertical and horizontal light pat-terns. Together they form a totallight effect which, depending onone’s position, changes constantlyas one follows the path.

Axeltorv Lighting Project: Axeltorv is a small square in the Ljusarkitektur: heart of the historic town Elsi- Kai Piippo nore in Denmark. It is here peo- Deike Canzler ple meet and talk. The challenge for this lighting project was to Landscaper: give an authentic feeling for a Møller & Grønborg: new lighting scheme. In winter the lan-terns give more surrounding lightand the illuminated facades framethe space. Incorporating the sea-sonal changes contributes to a na-tural, authentic design.The stream of light with its hun-dred light points is an interactivefibre-optic installation, illuminatedby only two metal halide lamps 150W.A colour- and a twinkle wheel can beactivated via DMX controlling by ca-lling a free number to listen to fivestories. During festive seasons thecolour wheel can be adjusted if desi-red, otherwise it is kept beautifulwhite. The custom made end-fittingswith integrated Swarovski crystalscontribute to the daytime experiencewhen sunlight hits a sparkling canbe perceived. The sculpture is illu-minated with two well-shielded LEDprojectors, 3W. Working with fibre-optics for the illumination of thewater basin, we discovered that watercan bend light! All illumination iscreated by one metal halide 150W. Thewater reflections create water ripplesmoving subtly on the lower basin.

At a width of 80cm, as wide as the wall, it marksthe transition from the surroun-ding streets to the square. Thegreen light and wisps of mist ema-nate from the marking with the bor-ders of the Roman Empire engravedin the Corten steel. Now and againa poetic message is signalled withthe light, in a type of Roman mor-se code. On special days the lightchanges colour, such as in yellowon Catholic holidays and orange onthe Queen’s Birthday.The engineering has been carriedout in collaboration with Rots Ma-atwerk, a manufacturer specialisingin complex technical products. Arow of Powerful IP 67 LED lightingis used to create a strong illumi-nation. The fixed nozzles push coldwater under high pressure througha small opening and create a mistthat is illuminated by the LEDli-ne. The marking is operated by acentral control system which islocated in a basement nearby thesquare and controls both the mistand light. It runs on a regularprogramme but it is possible to login on a mobile device or a computerto manually control the mist andchange the colours.

That way the various parts are tied together and create a sense of wholeness. Overall the lighting gives a warm and friendly atmosphere which underlines the re- sidential character. The lighting shall be close to people, that is to say walking paths and residen- tial streets are illuminated in a human scale and feeling. The small- scale character is contrasted by the illumination of the industrial landmark - the crane - which is un- derlining Eriksberg’s history and thus identity. Rather then homo- geneity, contrasts are created - an interplay between darker and lighter spaces.68

The dynamic lightfrom the walls and roof gives thefeeling of a sky and the systema-tically shifting environment bringslife to the room. What the twilightconcept also offers is the possibi-lity to guide the traveler by shif-ting light intensity from one spotto another or from e.g. the gatewalls to the boarding gateway.Twilight zone is a token of unity.In addition to creating a nature-like indoor environment its purpo-se is to instill a sense of affinityand coexistence. Through TwilightZone one gains the awareness thatcountries and continents are con-nected and that our actions are notdelimited, but influences nature andother people in a larger context.
