1. Youth are often represented in accordance
with popular notions of adolescence
Cook often gets into fights and doesn’t let anyone stop him
from getting what he wants. Cooks dad is just immature as he
is and therefore cook has no role model. Cook is rude and just
speaks his mind.
2. Youth are often demonised the mass media
Cook smokes, drinks a lot, does a lot of drugs and often gets
into fights. Cook has been let down by his dad because he is a
really bad role model and is very immature.
3. Youth are represented as being let down by adults
Cooks Dad let him down and in the last episode of
series 3 of Skins we see why. Cooks Dad lives on a
small boat and is slowly drinking/smoking himself to
an early grave. No one in his village likes him and he is
known down his local pub for always causing a scene.
