  8. 8. Why do we let our email pile up infinitely?Because we can.Unfortunately it’s just so easy to ignore ourinboxes and let them pile up indefinitely.But the truth is, that it’s just mental clutter!SO WHY DO WE LET THIS HAPPEN WITHEMAIL?
  9. 9. So the first step is:DELETING EMAILSTILL YOUR INBOXIS EMPTY1ST STEP
  10. 10.  As overwhelming as thissounds, it will take you oneor two hours tops. Carve out a few hours of yourworkday and get it done! Get rid of everything that’snot important, and puteverything else in a to-be-sorted file.THIS MAY SOUND OVERWHELMING, BUT…“Nothing like a deepclean and a freshstart!” -somebodyfamous probablysaid this at somepoint in history…
  11. 11. Now that weare all cleanedout, we aregoing to keepour inboxesorganized sothey never pileup again!NOW THAT WE ARE SQUEAKY CLEAN

  15. 15.  If you can do it in twominutes or less, just get itdone. Otherwise, see “Delegate it” The “Do It” category alsoincludes things like checkingout a sale being promoted,or reading the personalletter from your friend. Bothof these after finishinghowever, require sorting viadeletion or folder-ing.1. DO IT
  16. 16.  This is naturally the bestoption and our personalfavorite. Every time you delete anemail, pretend you areplaying virtual trash can b-ball DELETE IT
  17. 17. PUNT IT Punting it essentially justmeans sending it back to thesender. A lot of emails are justlooking for a quick responseand just require a quick“punt” back to the person. Punting it also includessending it back, asking forclarification.

  19. 19.  Notice that “read it and leave it,” and “don’t read it, just let itbe/ignore it” are not options! These two choices are what lead to your inbox gettingcluttered and over run in the first place! The goal should be to check your inbox infrequently, say onceor twice per day, but check it to COMPLETION, meaning yourinbox is empty when you are done. If you force yourself tochoose between one of the 4 options listed above for every e-mail you look at, your inbox will be empty when you completeyour check.NOTE:
