Grant Overview <ul><li>Amount of award: $74,900 </li></ul><ul><li>Grade Level Focus: Sixth </li></ul><ul><li>Areas of focus: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>English Language Arts </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Student Technology Literacy </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Teacher Technology Literacy </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Expanded Access to Technology </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Improved Communication/Collaboration between School and Home </li></ul></ul>

Grant Goals <ul><li>Students will achieve proficiency in technology and use technology as a tool to meet language arts content standards. </li></ul><ul><li>Teachers will become proficient in technology literacy and will use technology to improve student achievement in language arts. </li></ul>

Grant Goals <ul><li>Students and teachers in the target group will have expanded access to up-to-date technology and access to necessary technical support. </li></ul><ul><li>Technology will be used to improve communication/collaboration among home, school, and community to support student learning. </li></ul>

Grant Details <ul><li>Two-year grant cycle: Fall 2007 – Fall 2009 </li></ul><ul><li>Payment schedule: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>December 2007 = 30% </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>March or May 2008 = 30% </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>October 2008 or March 2009 = 30% </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>November 2009 = 10% </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Target group will include four sixth grade classes in first year and expand to seven or eight in second year. </li></ul>

Grant Implementation <ul><li>Target group classrooms will be outfitted with Promethean Activboard and peripherals (includes Activboard, projector, pen, classroom response systems). </li></ul><ul><li>Target group teachers will receive an account with TeacherWeb for creating and maintaining a classroom website. </li></ul><ul><li>Target group teachers will receive professional development and support. </li></ul>

Participation Requirements <ul><li>Students and teachers in target group must complete pre/post EdTech Profile survey. </li></ul><ul><li>Target group teachers must attend professional development sessions on Promethean systems and TeacherWeb. </li></ul><ul><li>Target group classrooms must be available for quarterly observations of technology use. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Participation Requirements <ul><li>Target group classes must integrate technology into language arts instruction. </li></ul><ul><li>One or more target group teachers must agree to produce language arts podcasts with their students. </li></ul>
