I will worry about Marketing when I can afford to... <ul><li>Marketing is NOT a luxury it is an essential part of your business process </li></ul><ul><li>Build something because you know customers would want it. Not the reverse. This is not to say customers have asked you directly for it...understand the difference. </li></ul><ul><li>Will they be interested in it with that price/packaging/placement/brand....all of these things impact a decision </li></ul><ul><li>(DO NOT just ask your parents and friends.....) </li></ul>
  3. 3. Essential Basics <ul><li>Spend time understanding who you are targeting. Who are your customers? How do they communicate? What is their personality? Where do they consume? </li></ul><ul><li>Have a plan, even if it is one page of A4 </li></ul><ul><li>Understand your USP, if you do not have one you may be in trouble... </li></ul><ul><li>Does “local” make more sense for now? </li></ul><ul><li>Customer service... listen, react, understand, aim to always exceed expectations </li></ul><ul><ul><li>*28% of people trust advertising </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>35% of people trust pr/media </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>70% of people trust a recommendation from a random </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>90% of people trust a recommendation from a friend </li></ul></ul><ul><li>* Adelman and Lancaster University with thanks to Matt from Montage @prbristolblog </li></ul>
