  9. 9. FIRST STEP: Pick up the phone and pre-screen those job candidates who meet your job criteria in order to determine whether or not the applicant should even be brought in for an interview with you
  10. 10. Give the candidates a call and speak with them for a few minutes by phone
  11. 11. Ask your candidates specific questions based on your job criteria that will help you to determine their overall skill set and their experience
  12. 12. Your phone screen should be no longer than fifteen minutes
