(high level) <ul><li>Popular social networking site primarily for business professional relationships </li></ul><ul><li>It can give “non IT developers” a web presence </li></ul><ul><li>Find contacts, be found, find jobs, find answers. </li></ul><ul><li>If you are a PPNer, you should be “LinkedIn”. </li></ul>

LinkedIn Quick Facts <ul><li>Launched in December 2002 </li></ul><ul><li>About half of of their members are outside the U.S. </li></ul><ul><li>Two years ago they had about 2 million members </li></ul><ul><li>LinkedIn now has over 36 million members in over 200 countries and territories around the world. </li></ul><ul><li>A new member joins LinkedIn approximately every second </li></ul><ul><li>LinkedIn's CEO is founder Reid Hoffman. Hoffman, previously an executive vice president of PayPal, also is Chairman of the Board. </li></ul><ul><li>Users over 45 now account for a whopping 31 percent of LinkedIn’s user base. </li></ul><ul><li>The web site URL is www.linkedin.com </li></ul>

A few things you can do on LinkedIn <ul><li>Create a profile page so you can “be found” </li></ul><ul><li>Find jobs, people and business connections </li></ul><ul><li>Create a network of connections (contacts) </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Direct connections (people you know and trust) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Second degree connections (your direct contact’s connections) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Third degree connections (connection’s of your second degree connections) </li></ul></ul>
