There is a tension in today’s organisations between:
(a) The desire and need to clearly define jobs and job expectations.
(b) The trend towards job enlargement and in some cases ”de-jobbing”. The business news can often give examples of companies who have moved towards enlargement of jobs, however, this is usually coupled with downsizing activities.
